30 Day Experiment — Quitting Red Meat

I’ve been struggling with my health for years now, mostly on the eating side. No, nothing serious, perhaps I should use a different word than “struggling”. Mostly it’s just the ongoing comments from my doctor of “well, you’re in good shape, but you could lose a few lbs” where a few is usually measured as 40. I can’t tell if she’s messing with me but you know, I probably could lose a few lbs.

Rather than go on some drastic weight loss diets (because we know those don’t work), I’m chosen to slowly adjust my lifestyle to a more healthy one. Each month I’m going to make a little experiment to see if I can change my eating or add some physical activity in a sustainable and fun way. This month’s (January, 2024) experiment is cutting out red meat.

The experiment should be relatively easy. I already don’t eat much red meat, which means I should be able to rack up an easy win right at the start of this health journey, which should hopefully get me some momentum for the rest of it.

Oh, and I’m also adding in the exception rule. That being two meals a month in which I can break all the rules. Because everything in moderation, including moderation.
